London Looks: Makeup Trends Straight From The Catwalk

Want to get the London look this spring? Then follow the hair and make-up trends as seen at the S/S London Fashion Week shows. The look for spring is fresh, sweet, and well, spring-like with three key trends evident on the catwalks.

Sweet and Sugary

Sweet and Sugary
There were plenty of sweet and sugary looks to match the pastel palettes favoured by many of the designers this season. Sky blue at Mary Katrantzou and candy pink at Kinder Aggugini fed the make-up trends in London. Get the look with a dewy face and flash of apricot blush to the cheeks for a warming, youthful glow as seen at Christopher Kane. Big eyebrows are still the way to go and are the focal point of the face. Bold and boyish brows are the key words of the season, as seen at Erdem, sketch in the arches two to three shades darker than your hair colour and make them big. Finish with lightly pulled back hair either in a vintage rolled style, or a scruffy bun as seen at Kinder Aggugini.

Wet Grunge

Wet Grunge
In keeping with the aquatic mood at some of the shows, mermaid-like models were sent down the catwalk. It is a simple, but subtly sexy look great for after dark. There was a distinct lack of heavy lips, as designers such as RoksandaIlinic instead opted for nude, natural shades. This makes way for a focus on the eyes and hair which are inspired by romantic grunge. Smokey eyes follow through from winter, with make-up artists resolutely opting for a vintage oval shaped eye. Stylists then drenched hair in product for a wet-look effect.

Again, in keeping with the neutral and white shades on the catwalks, make-up artists opted for a nude beauty look. Tinted moisturisers and blemish balms are your friend this season, as prepping skin for a flawless finish becomes part of your daily routine. Hair should be freshly washed and blow dried for a very British light and wafty look as seen at Burberry and Jaeger.
