Whipped TLC: Tasty Treats For Your Skin

Tasty Treats For Skin

Home made skin care regime is a great natural solution to most of our skin needs and woes.Add yummy smelling/tasting benefits and you can take skin care to another level. Here I’ve compiled a list of my favourite skin treats which are not only invigorating to your senses but will also benefit your skin in the bargain.
All these recipes are one time use only and the quantity can be adjusted to suit your needs.

Coffee Scrub

1 tbsp instant coffee
1/2 tbsp rolled oats
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream

Mix the dry ingredients first.Add cream and stir.If the mixture is dry add a few drops of water.Apply using circular motion to a clean face.Leave for 5 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.

Strawberry Pore Cleanser

1 heaped tbsp of strawberry jelly crystals
1 tbsp milk
a few drops of lemon juice

Mix all the ingredients to get a semi dry gritty consistency.Microwave for 10 seconds. At this point you should have a gooey paste.Apply thickly on affected areas(cheeks, nose) using a stiff brush or fingers(which would be a bit messy).Let it dry completely.Peel off very carefully.Immediately follow up with a toner.

Wine Toner/Astringent

1 tbsp wine(red/white/home brewed basically anything you can get your hands on)

Apply on face using a cotton pad.Wait for a couple of minutes then wipe off with a damp cotton pad.

Orange And Honey Peel Off

2 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tbsp honey
1 Vitamin E capsule
1 tbsp unflavoured gelatine

Warm the orange juice for 10 seconds in the microwave.Add gelatine and stir till it dissolves.Add honey and contents of the vitamin E capsule.Warm it up again in the microwave to get a gooey consistency(about 30 seconds).Let the mixture slightly cool down but not too much. You can check the temperature at the back of your hand.Apply on clean face using a spatula.Let it dry completely and then peel off.

Chocolate & Coconut Moisturizing Pack

1 tbsp fresh coconut either ground into paste or powder
1tbsp shaved chocolate
1 tsp milk
few drops of vanilla essence

Warm the milk for 10 seconds in the microwave.Add chocolate and stir.Add the coconut and essence. If the mixture is runny wait for it cool down slightly or add more chocolate.Apply on clean face and let it sit for 10 minutes.Make sure you sit in a cool environment or the pack might melt off your face.Wash off with cool water.

Iced Tea Pads For Tired Eyes

2 squares of gauze
2 cotton pads
1 to 2 tbsp green/black tea leaves
4-5 sprigs of mint
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp aloe Vera gel(fresh or otherwise)

Bring half a cup of water to a boil.Add tea leaves and mint and let it steep for 10 minutes.Add lemon juice .Place the cotton pad at one corner of the square gauze.Fold the gauze in half to cover the pad and then fold again to get square of cotton wrapped in gauze.Repeat for the other cotton pad.The Cotton pad should be thick.Dip them in the tea brew and place in the freezer till it becomes almost ice cold.Apply aloe gel on your eyes then place the soaked gauze pads over your eyes.Don’t squeeze the pads.If you want you can place a towel on your face.Repeat when the pads get warm or you can create more pads.
