Foods To Slim You Down

Food defines every aspect of our life so its a real pity that it can cause so much misery when we put on a few excess kilos.I’ve been down that road and I’ve obsessed over every extra kilo. But I did obsess over food too.So when I think about food to help slim me I could not be more ecstatic.Everyone knows that eating right is the key to a healthy body which in turn is the key to a healthy mind, but the important thing to remember is not only to eat right but also eat at the right time. Our weight fluctuations are governed by our metabolism or the process of converting food to energy. The slower the rate of metabolism slower will be the energy released and hence more weight gain.Keep your metabolism rate under control and half the battle is won.But then comes evil in the form of food cravings.
Food cravings are one of the  primary reasons for excess weight gain, the other being plain and simple gluttony.Curb those cravings and you’re half way there.Food cravings occur when the blood sugar level is low which results in snacking or in other words gorging on tasty fatty carb rich snacks. The truth is that these cravings can easily be appeased by a bowl of cereal or fruit just as easily without adding to your waistline.
These foods will not only help you slim down in the long run but will also benefit other aspects of your health. So bon appétit.

My Take: Lakme Rose Powder

  Lakme Rose Powder Review,Loose Powder

Loose powder is an essential part of your makeup arsenal but most women skip it.Until a while ago I used to be one of them. You could mostly attribute it to sheer laziness and the fact that I never knew it’s importance. Then I started out with compact.Loved it and decided to give loose powder a chance.I tried out the Oriflame loose powder and I could understand what the hoopla was all about.I finished with it a month ago and ever since I’ve been lost. And the reason I didn't replace it immediately was because I couldn't find a good enough brand to replace it with (and I had sworn off Oriflame totally). Then I stumbled across the Lakme Rose Powder. This is the first time I’m using it and I’m already in love. It’s everything I could ask for and some more. And the best part is the price. It’s so damn cheap. It smells fresh,is easy to apply and suits my skin to the tee.

What It Claims
“Foundation make-up in a powder format- gives a flawless radiant look.Contains rose fragrance to keep you fresh, contains sunscreen to protect from harmful UV rays.”

Freshly Shopped:How Grocery Shopping Turned Into a Blog Post

DSC04614-1
Before I begin let me emphasise that I'm a list person especially when it comes to grocery shopping because I’ve been known to deviate. My mantra is stick to the list. But what do you do when you loose the list?Shop for things you love that will never make the list otherwise.Which is exactly what I did.
Normally I do my weekly grocery shopping at a nearby departmental store. It used be devoid of temptations in the form of makeup counters which worked for me, but a few months back the shop was revamped and turned into a triple story with an entire floor dedicated to things I love.So when I realized I’m sans a grocery list I wandered and spent half my weekly budget on things I can’t eat. Here’s what I bought and why(to appease my guilty conscious).

Few Of My Favourites: A Lip Balm Obsession

Lip Balm Obsession

Too much of a good thing can never be bad na?A question I ask myself constantly to assuage my fears of this obsession. And I'm sure most of you must be assuming that my obsession lies in using lip balms but it actually extends to buying them too.Might sound loony to anyone who has not fallen for it, but trust me an obsession it is.How much is an obsession you may ask.Well I have 4 tubes of my absolute favourite one(Avon Naturals Strawberry Lip Balm) lest I should ever run out of it(before getting the chance to buy another one).

Ok so do i have your attention now? The obsession I suppose can stem anywhere from the cute packaging(Purse Those Lips), yummy smells(and at times taste), flavours and yeah obviously the fact that it keeps lips soft supple and shiny. But mind you I use the term obsession and not addiction cause there's no such thing as a lip balm addiction. However people do claim to be addicted with likely signs of reaching for the pot of gold every 5 minutes.I don't do that and I don't judge if you do because there is a perfectly valid reason for it.

My Take: Ponds White Beauty Face Wash

Ponds White Beauty Face Wash

We females are any given day on an eternal search for an HG product, that fulfills all our needs and more. Most of us find it and most of us keep looking.I found my HG face wash in Pond’s White Beauty. It’s just perfect in every way imaginable and though it fulfills all my prerequisites for an HG face wash,I’m sure you’ll love it too.
A face wash is something that is used everyday usually more than once. Some of us have our favourites some of us make do with what we have.I’ve tried nearly everything under the sun and hated each one of them.Reason being the weird creamy/oily residue left behind after you rinse it off. When I wash my face I like it to be squeaky clean, but not too dry and definitely without any lingering feeling of product on my skin.Since this one is marketed as a fairness face wash,I never thought of buying it(I’m a totally  anti fairness products). But you know how pushy the sales assistants can get.I bought it the first time to oblige a really sweet one and ever since there has been no looking back.So I’ll stop with the banter and get on with the review.

What It Claims:
“Daily Spotless Lightening facial foam cleanses deeply for glowing and brighter skin. This gentle foam deeply cleanses and brightens skin, transforming your complexion to a radiant look you’ve always wanted. The foam’s unique formula reduces dullness and brightens skin while washing away old and weary sallow skin cells.Skin feels soft, smooth and sparkling clean.”

Ten Commandments For Applying Nail Paints

I'm a big nail paint fanatic. But unfortunately I'm pretty clumsy with them also.So inevitably I end up splotching up what could have been an awesome manicure.Which means that usually I end up at my BFF's doorstep with a bottle in hand(sometimes not even that she has an amazing collection). She has a natural instinct for nail paint application(weird you may think but thankful I am) and so I decided to get her to spill her secrets.
Here we are : 10 commandments for nail paint application straight from the horse's mouth.
  1. No cuticles equals a neater application.Don’t use orange sticks which may cause damage.Instead soak hands in warm water and then apply a cuticle cream (or Vaseline ) and push the cuticles with either a damp towel or q-tip to reveal the base of your nails.
  2. Work on filed and shaped nails.Even if you have short nails.Use an emery board instead of a metal filer. It's safer and gives better results.
  3. Polish applies best on clean nails so make sure to wipe your nails with nail polish remover before starting.Use a generous amount to clean your nails of any residue left after you apply cream/oil.Also polish sticks better on buffed nails which makes nails smoother.
  4. Bubbles in the paint are bad news.Never shake the bottle but roll it between your hands
  5. Now we can get to the business of applying. It's not necessary to start with a base coat but if you intend to use a darker polish it's always better to use a base coat to avoid staining.Although if you do end up with yellow/stained nails you can always use any whitening toothpaste on them. But you need to do it religiously to see effects.Buffing also helps.
  6. Instead of applying one thick coat it's better to apply two thin coats. It dries faster and your manicure is more lasting.
  7. When applying nail paint, make sure to paint the top edge of the nail and a little on the underside of the tips so that the paint does not chip.
  8. Keep your nail polish remover and a clean brush(use a paint brush or a cleaned old nail polish brush) handy especially if your application technique remotely resembles mine.If you smudge your polish or make a mistake dip your nail in the remover and paint over with the brush. This is also useful when you chip a nail and don't have the time to paint over again.Use a q-tip dipped in remover to wipe off any excess around the nails.
  9. This is important.Let your nails dry for at least an hour before you attempt any heavy duty labor(or in my case plain labor, great excuse to avoid chores ;).You could try dipping your nails in cold water to dry them faster but don’t do it right after applying.Instead wait for 10 minutes.Avoid using any dry heat like blow-drier.
  10. Finally if you want the paint to look glossy apply a top coat every other day. This will not only increase the life of your manicure but also make them fresh and shiny.

My Take: Himalaya Protein Hair Cream

Himalaya Protein Pack
I’m a girl obsessed with my hair.I use packs, readymade and homemade, every chance I get and every time I get complimented for how shiny and healthy my hair looks I’m on top of the world.Although lately I’ve been working overtime to maintain my lustrous mane since I got them rebonded.I’ve been using Schwarzkopf Repair Rescue hair mask(prescribed by the stylist) every week and a homemade banana pack every other week, but since the Schwarzkopf pack costs 600 bucks a pop I was looking for a cheaper albeit good alternative. And I found one in the Himalaya Protein Pack.I chanced upon it while grocery shopping. It looked promising so I picked it up and I’m glad I did.

makeup tricks to recsue
We madly love our skin and would go to any lengths to care for it.But sometimes we are left in a lurch waiting to be rescued. So here are some of my rescue tactics/products/remedies.These have never failed me and I hope you can benefit from them.

Dry Patchy Skin
Or in other words the worst winter woe.And me with the perpetual oily skin is a victim(winters only). No matter how much you moisturize if you always end up with flaky skin then this one's for you.
Tactic: Scrubbing. It helps you get rid of all the dead skin to reveal softer skin beneath.Immediately follow up with a moisturizer. You can scrub every other day.Best option besan(gram flour) and malai(cream). It scrubs without leaving skin dry.
Product: Johnson's baby cream. It works wonders on patchy skin.Another great option is Emoderm/Emolene(available at medical stores). It actually moisturizes skin without making it oily and is perfect for those with combination skin and I happily use it during summers too.
Remedy: Mashed banana.Apply on clean face. Here are the details.
